Understanding hardship waiver evaluations
At Sendero Clinical Services, we provide comprehensive, objective mental health evaluations to support immigration and legal cases. Each evaluation is designed to document psychological impact, trauma, and overall functioning so attorneys and decision-makers can better understand the individual and family experience.
Who the evaluation focuses on
For hardship waiver matters, including I-601 and I-601A cases, Sendero assesses the emotional and psychological impact that separation, relocation, or denial may have on qualifying relatives such as spouses, children, or parents.
The evaluation may explore the qualifying relative's mental health history, current stressors, caregiving responsibilities, family relationships, and the practical effects of possible separation or relocation.
What the report may document
These evaluations may help describe the depth of hardship through clinical findings, family context, daily functioning, and trauma-informed documentation while keeping the legal strategy with the attorney.
When clinically relevant, the report may discuss anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, health-related stress, parenting concerns, family disruption, and other psychosocial factors that help explain the hardship experience.
A careful and objective process
Clinical interview and context
The evaluation is conducted through a supportive clinical interview that gathers psychosocial history, emotional concerns, family circumstances, and day-to-day functioning.
Sendero keeps the process respectful and culturally responsive, especially when clients are sharing sensitive family, immigration, or trauma-related experiences.
Attorney-collaborative documentation
The completed report is prepared for the attorney-led case process and focuses on clinical observations, relevant history, and objective documentation.
Sendero does not provide legal advice or determine eligibility for a waiver. The evaluation may provide clinical documentation that the attorney can consider as part of the broader case presentation.
